For reference, I'm on a near-dragon with the Chaintec AV710 audio card, onboard audio disabled. I've got 3 tuners: PCHD3000, Air2PC5000, and the KWorld.

Guys... You should only have to put this into /etc/init.d/KnoppMyth-tv at the bottom.
modprobe saa7134-dvb
#----------------------------------------------------------------------#
[ "$WORK" = 0 ] || Perform $TASK
rm -f $TEMP_MM
#----------------------------------------------------------------------#
modprobe dvb-bt8xx
modprobe nvram
modprobe saa7134-dvb
/usr/local/bin/tvterm.sh
echo "} Done"
########################################################################
# End

Great fix, though I'm so close I can taste it. The nxt2004 firmware for the card is loading after adding the lines to /etc/init.d/KnoppMyth-tv, and mythtv-setup lets me add the capture card.
When I use the card in watch tv or try to record using it I get:
"Signal 99% | S/N 4.8dB | BE 0 (l____) No Lock"
My other cards(DVICO fusion 5 lite) tune with little problem.

Try the other input. I was confused as to which input to use for ATSC, switched it, and it worked.

Would you specify which input worked for you? I think I chose the one that was not the composite or S-video in mythtv-setup > capture card.
Thanks,

It's the DVB on in the setting, but where I F'd up was with the cable running into the card. There are two, and I picked the wrong one.
I physically switched to the other jack, and all was fine.

Is anyone successfully using this card to receive OTA HD on one port, with your cable hooked up to the other for QAM HD? I am not talking about recording both at the same time, just having both configured.

I'm interested in the same thing. I thought I read somewhere that with the current firmware, you can't do both.
My other question is can I plug my cable into the one jack to do grab the qam HD content, and then be able to view regular, standard, "cable-ready" tv too?
Thanks

Hi All,
I can't get the channel scan to find any channels, they all timeout. Here are my details:
Running KnoppMyth R5E50
Am a total newbie, even to linux.
Using KWorld 115 & Comcast Digital Cable (SF Bay area)
Coax cable plugged into lower plug
Edited /etc/modprobe.conf as in wiki (1st weirdness - this file didnt exist so I created one with the 3 lines)
Edited etc/init.d/KnoppMyth-tv and added lines mentioned earlier:
Quote: modprobe saa7134 modprobe saa7134-dvb "dmesg | grep nxt" gives: Quote: nxt200x: NXT2004 Detected nxt2004: Waiting for firmware upload (dvb-fe-nxt2004.fw)... nxt2004: Waiting for firmware upload(2)... nxt2004: Firmware upload complete "lspci | grep -i multimedia" gives: Quote: 02:09.0 Multimedia controller: Philips Semiconductors SAA7133/SAA7135 Video Broadcast Decoder (rev d1)
So I hope we can all agree that the card looks good.
I created a 'capture card' entry via knoppmyth menu for a card of type "DVB DTV..." (text below said "Frontend ID Nextwave NXT200X VSB/QAM....")
I jump to the channle scan via the menus, choose:
Freq Table: Cable (also tried Cable IRC & HRC))
ATSC Cable (QAM-256) (also tried 128 & 64)
All channels timeout. I even went so far as to plug a TV into the cable outlet to make sure that it was working ok. The card was open box at Frys, I assume it works..
Any suggestions?
TIA.

hmm... 1st, make sure you're plugged into the correct coax input - "digital" or "analog." your Comcast Digital Cable, do you need a cable box to decode the digital channels? i'm not sure about cable... isn't a lot of it encrypted?
it sounds like you've got the tech stuff right.
do you have a UHF antenna lying around somewhere? you could plug it into the digital input and see if you get any over the air. in a city area there should be plenty of digital OTA floating around. that'll tell you if you're card is working.

So I broke out my Windoze box and put the card in that & installed the included s/w. I immediately got all of the analog channels & digital while plugged into the lower plug. Most digital were encrypted but not all, it seemed I could get the network HD channels just fine. In fact, I picked up channels if I selected "BDA ATSC Tuner" or "BDA Analog Capture" which were the first two choices it presented me with.
What a disappointment I can't seem to get it working on KnoppMyth. I'm about ready now to return it and fork out the money for a Hauppage to save myself further time & frustration (I hope, else I'll be forced to use Windoze!).

Paul, I've had the same results. The strange thing is the card is detected by Myth and it scans but times out due to "no tables."
I have Fusion 3 Gold Q and Fusion 5 Lite cards and they both work great. I have a channels.conf file that I created with those cards using dvb-apps. When I attempt to tune one of the valid channels:
[mythtv@localhost .azap]$ azap -r "702-KATUDT"
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
tuning to 627000000 Hz
video pid 0x0800, audio pid 0x0801
status 00 | signal ec30 | snr 9104 | ber 00000e58 | unc 00000000 |
status 1f | signal fe10 | snr e3c0 | ber 00007ff8 | unc 000000ff | FE_HAS_LOCK
status 1f | signal e630 | snr 8f8e | ber 00007ff8 | unc 000000ff | FE_HAS_LOCK
I get a lock, but nothing usable from the device:
mplayer /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0
results in no video.
Others have reported success with the 110 and 115 and other dvb-fe-nxt2004 cards. Perhaps there's been a recent change in the firmware.
I think my card is going back too. It's much easier to just buy another Fusion card. No firmware hassles either!
