Interesting thread-

I'm trying to play DVD's from a shared DVD drive on my XP workstation. I can ls the /dev/dvd directory and see the audio and video directories. When I select 'play DVD' from otpical discs menu xine starts and gives me the top level menu of the dvd, but won't play. The error from mythfrontend is "CSS authentication not available"

any hints? TIA

CSS is the encryption used on DVD's. cesman cannot allow Knoppmyth to play encrypted DVD's out of the box without having lawyers at his door. We also cannot discuss here the theoretical ways one might get them to play. Google is your friend.

Modernized the howto and gave a little info for newbie users about what Samba is and can do.

Thanks! That was easy! Setting up Samba has been on my "to-do list" for quite a while.
To my surprise, my Linksys router resolved the IP address to the KM box hostname.
The connection worked with Windows 2000, Windows XP Professional and Windows Vista Home Premium with no issues. :D
