I have the following card:
CORE cx88[0]: subsystem: 0070:3401, board: Hauppauge WinTV 34xxx models [card=1,autodetected]
tveeprom 0-0050: Hauppauge model 34132, rev J1A3, serial# 9949757
input: cx88 IR (Hauppauge WinTV 34xxx as /class/input/input4

Do I need to use an audio cable to connect my tuner to my sound card for KnoppMyth to pick up audio? Should I use Microphone or Line-In?

I have a fm801 card (pci).

Thanks!

If you're using the RF input on your tuner card, then the audio is modulated along with the video. So, you won't need to connect anything (besides your cable tv/antenna) to get audio and video.
You'll need to connect the output of your soundcard to speakers to hear anything.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what RF means.

The tuner has coax going to it, and no other wires at the moment. So I don't need an audio cable? That's good news, thanks.

Coax is a type of cable, not a connector. Look at this for some more info:

RF == "Radio Frequency" In this case used to mean a carrier modulated broadcast signal as you would get from an antenna or cable TV hookup. Versus a video only signal as you might get from an external tuner box or DVD player.

I don't recognize that model off the top of my head but posting all the tveeprom info might help:
Code:
grep tveeprom /var/log/messages

Oh, wait, Google shows that "Hauppauge model 34132" as one of the HVR cards they were substituting for good honest PVR-150s for a while... Ugh. :( Those weren't supported last time I checked.

I got the card from newegg a few days ago, so if it doesn't work I can return it. :D

However, it looks like the same card the author of knoppmyth says works on his homepage (under 'Basics').

Looks like the search gave me a bogus match then. Model 34132 is indeed what the sticker on that card says. On the other hand why get a software encoder card when the hardware encoders are nearly as cheap? For an extra $2 you could have had a PVR-150 with the remote and hardware encoder and no need for audio jumpers... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116625

Yeah, I suck. :)

I didn't realize those worked with linux until is was too late. I'm going to return my 401 and get a hardware one, me thinks.

Which of these would you recommend, seeing as how they're all about the same price?

Also, now that everything is working with this card (until I swap it out), any idea why TV/sound worked until I went from LCD to TV? (nVidia card with RCA out)

Now I see these errors when I try to watch TV. (Arg! So close!)
