Forget apt-get -f install and manually install the packages it wants. You are you stable in sources.list right?

Hey Cecil, thanks for the write-up.
I am trying to manually find the dependencies, but stopped before I hosed my system. Where do we get those packages and what are their names? Here is what I did:
apt-get install msttcorefonts (no prob)
wget the wine, dpkg -i wine, got dependency errors:
libgcc1 (needs 1.4.2)
libgphoto2-2
libgphoto2-port0
libstdc++6 (needs 4.2)
did: apt-get install libgphoto2-2 (got errors)
apt-get install libstdc++6 (got errors)
apt-get -f install (installed libgphoto2-2 and libgphoto2-port0 ok)
-can't find any package or ref in stable for libgcc1 version 1.4.2 came across gcc-4.2-base and gave me a whole bunch of files it would REMOVE - answered no, stopped right there)

Question is where and what package(s)for libgcc1 1.4.2 and libstdc++6 (version 4.2)
