I am trying to get albumart visualization to work in mythmusic. I tried to compile/install the albumart python script but got caught in dependancy hell. Both on my knoppmyth box and also on my mandrake 10 box. I tried the albumart program on a win2000 box, started the program, pointed to a directory with my mp3's. Nothing came up and my win2000 locked up.
I manually downloaded cover art (jpg) to a folder and used another program, mtt-v1.2 for windows to "embed?" the covers as a mp3 tag. I dont' know much about mp3 tags and using cover art, but this program "see's" the cover art. So I moved the .mp3's out of /myth/music and did a delete from musicmetadata to zero that file. I copied this new .mp3 into /myth/music and it did a rescan and found the mp3. I set the visualization on "AlbumArt" and started the mp3. It just shows a black square with a white ? in the middle.
Do I also need to put the .jpg in the same folder? Or is it "embedded"in the .mp3 itself? I couldn't find too much about this on gossamer threads, just that someone (somehow!) got the albumart script to work. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

I finally got it to work. It doesn't read the .mp3 APIC tags (as far as I know). The key is in the directory structure. This is my directory structure
/myth/music/Beatles/Abbey Road/ (all songs from that album go in here)
/myth/music/Beatles/Rubber Soul/ (all songs from that album go in here)
/myth/music/Metallica/Kill em all/ (all songs from that album go in here)
Basically it is /myth/music/Artist/Album/SongTitle.mp3 structure.

Next step is to download the cover art into the same directory as the .mp3 songs. You can name it whaterveryouwant.jpg, but I just renamed it to cover.jpg. In the above example it would be:
/myth/music/Beatles/Abbey Road/cover.jpg
/myth/music/Beatles/Rubber Soul/cover.jpg
/myth/music/Metallica/Kill em all/cover.jpg

You will want to run mysql and do a "delete from musicmetadata" then rescan for music. Now set your visualization to Albumart and it will work, changing with the correct song.
By the way, you can get coverart from amazon.com but I found the best to be from
http://www.coverland.co.uk/ There is also a sponsor link if you want to pick up a Russian Bride while your at it.
Please make sure you own/purchased the original for all cover art and music!
