I recently purchased a new dvd player for my myth box, a NEC 2510. Linux recognizes it at startup, however when I pop in a disk and hit the play dvd button, nothing happens. I can play CD's just find but no DVD's

I know this is a fairly new player (Dual Layer burner) but there was no issue having it recognized when the OS booted up initially. Also when I try and rip a CD I get

"Unable to connect to your Transcoding Daemon, Please hit any number key to proceed. If you are still seeing this message something is really wrong"

Cesman, I have searched the forum before asking.

:) But have you search the mythtv archives? In an xterm
Code:
mtd &
then start the frontend. Check the archives, you may find more detail as to why it doesn't start or how to make it start. You can also put mtd in ~/.fwvm/.fvwm2rc

This same drive (great deal I must add) is what I am using and the stock Knoppmyth works perfectly once I followed the setup tips and howtos here. Good luck, it has been a great and quiet drive. I am now playing with the Dvd burning scripts with it and waiting for dual layer media to be more available.
