I've decided to put together media system at home, and I would like to request some recommendations in terms of what hardware works best with the latest KnoppMyth release (R4V4.1).

I would like advice on the below components.

Motherboard (must have on-board sound)
CPU (1.8 GHz or higher)
Video card (must have DVI)
TV-Tuner / PVR Card (I'm looking at the PVR-250 at the moment)
Wireless keyboard / mouse

I read that there may be some issues with the VIA chipsets and the PVR-250, so I've been looking at Intel and Nvidia chipsets as alternatives.

i dont know about old 133/266 Via chipsets.. however i have -+4 knoppmyth systems running, and all of them are newer VIA chipsets.. i never had a problem that has been via related. Also i got to say. I am a system admin with about +60 workstation.. and 100% via. As you can tell im a huge Via fan.

the only via problems i have heard of are 4 year old via mobo's anyway thats my input.

I'll just jump in I KNOW that all 133/266 via chipsets suffer from the DMA bug, it's questionable with 333/400 I've heard some success stories. The 400 seems to be ok most of the time, and the 333 some of the time. I have heard of several people who had this issue with 333 boards also. And I'm guessing the 800 and newer are fine, if you can get all the drivers.

I haven't looked at via boards in quite some time. used to be a huge fan till this problem, and I've used nvidia since then, granted that's just one board, since I can't afford to have 4 extra computers lying around as mythtv boxes.

I wish I could just have one extra for testing purposes, but alas thats the way the cookie crumbles. If you ever ran out of room for all those extra mythtv boxes I think I could make room.
