Hi everyone,

I finally have a Myth box up and running thanks in most part to KnoppMyth and reading the archives here on this site. My setup is as follows:

ECS K7SEM motherboard (onboard video/sound)
384 MB Ram
PVR-350

I have the PVR-350 TV-out working fine with Mathias' driver - seems to be running quite stable even when I pull up the guide while watching Live TV.

My number one problem now is that I'm unable to schedule recordings. When I pick anything from the guide, it still shows up as Not Recording. No shows appear anywhere except in the Priorities list. Is there something wrong with permissions in the database?

My second priority is that I'm using an ExpressVu 3100 receiver (same as Dish 301). I have the grey Hauppauge remote working right now, but I need to be able to change channels on the receiver. I have a "IR Blaster-like" device that I know someone else has used for cable boxes in the past. My question is, is there a HOW-TO somewhere on getting this working without messing up the Hauppauge remote?

My last problem is that right now, if I'm in the program guide during live TV, I can't get the channel to change. I'm assuming it's because I'm using the S-Video and don't have the IR blaster setup yet - but even on screen it's not appearing "as-if" it changed (if that makes any sense).

If anyone has any help or suggestions for any of these things, it would be much appreciated!

Then you'd know this isn't an installation issue.

OK.. can you tell me where I should post this then. I figured there would be lots of people reading here that could help and these might be issues that other people have run into. So, while it may not be a KnoppMyth installation issue, it is an issue with getting KnoppMyth running the way I want.

But, let me know where it should go and I'll repost there.

OK, I got the scheduling issue taken care of. The only issue sill left is the IR for the Dish 301 receiver. I've posted that in the other Installation category now since I think that's where it's supposed to go.

Installation is the "HELP THE KNOPMYTH INSTALLER BLEW UP OR WENT OFF THE RAILS!" area. My take is that Cesman intends it as way to prioritize attention very specifically to things that he is the primary resource for.

I'd guess that this belongs under knoppmyth->general or linux->mythtv and maybe under hardware for the IR-blaster question.

The programming guide is a major source of grief mostly because it complex.

If you did an auto install and didn't do anything screwy manually the permissions shouldn't be your problem. At a guess you've got your wires crossed in the configuration and the best remedy for that is to clear all the settings, start over, and go through it from end to end very carefully. Reading the instructions here http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO.html cleared up a number of things for me.

Since you can tune live TV I'd guess the problem is in your recording profiles...

(Hmmm... we seem to have crossed in flight... Glad to hear that you fixed the recording problem, what was wrong there?)

tjc,

Recording problem was fixed by running setup again, reloading the PVR-350 card and selecting everything again. Don't know what was different from the first time, but it's all working now. Just the IR Blaster to go!
