I also have a Mega PC with a PVR-350 and I had the same problem. It turned out that disabling both the PnP options and the APIC options in the BIOS fixed it and I now grab a DHCP address no problems

Yup - that's it!

I have a huge thread somewhere on this - and it took me hours to work out.

However, I had to reinstall after I disabled APIC.

Thanks everybody for the quick replies. I set the options in BIOS to disbable APIC and switched to manal resource control and everything worked like a charm!

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know why this happens? A Knoppix boot CD works fine on this box, and before I switched settings, ifconfig could see the MAC address and my router saw some sort of malformed DHCP request that it dropped as a spoof attack. Of course its a lot harder to worry about these things once they are working, its just that I am trying to understand Linux better.

So I also had the B/W problem on my PVR-250 and I switched to input 8 per this forum, and that fixed the color. However I have noticed my video quality on S-Video input is pretty bad. This is compared to another box that has knoppmyth - a P3 with a Bt848 capture card. My MSI is a p4 2.8 533 w/512 MB and PVR-250 card, so I figure I got good enought hardware, I just need to tinker with settings to get things right. Any feedback from anyone with a similar config?

How did you get the video to work ? I have a MEGA 651 with integrated video and all I see when trying to watch tv is static and no sound. The sound works fine with the cd or mp3 player. What did you do to get the PVR 250 working properly ?

the most likely reason it happens is that apic is disabled in knoppmyth because it was causing problems with nforce2 and pvr cards for lots of people, where knoppix most likely still has apic enabled in the kernel.

Hello,

I have a MSI Mega 651, w/ PVR-250 card. I have downloaded and installed knoppmyth as an auto install. My problem is that I am having trouble getting my onboard network card (realtek 8101L) to work.

OT, but were you ever able to get the Mega's on-board IR to work with Myth ?
