Using MythTV 0-22-fixes (LinHES R6-Testing MythTV 0.22012 version, svn 23566M), it seems that one must be careful when fast forwarding while a program is recording. I find that the video will sometimes freeze (stuck until the show is over), while the audio continues to play. When this occurs, I've ended up having to kill mythfrontend (or wait until the program has stopped playing). I have tried every decoder option, so the problem may be in this version of MythTV itself. The following is found in mythfrontend.log when this occurs:

Code:
2010-02-27 19:57:55.829 Dec: DoFastForward(): desiredFrame(80921) > last_frame(80893)
2010-02-27 19:57:59.766 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:57:59.867 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:57:59.967 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:58:00.067 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause

2010-02-27 19:58:00.267 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:58:00.367 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:58:00.467 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:58:00.567 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:58:00.668 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
2010-02-27 19:58:00.768 NVP(1), Warning: Waited too long for decoder to pause
(...and it continues until mythfrontend is killed or the show is over)

Is anyone else seeing the same problem?

Seen this in many versions of Myth... seems inherent... & I don't know of a solution... :(

My workaround it to use the "jump" keys instead. These don't seem to cause any problems.

Ya...
& you can punch in a number of minutes to jump and then hit the jump key...
I haven't had any problems that way.

Wow, I didn't know that! Thanks for the tip! I see it works both forward and backwards! It's the little things that count.

Thanks, snaproll.

I discovered this too but for me it seems like it's only with High-Def recordings, and only when I get near the end (i.e. where it's currently recording). The frontend completely locks up (no audio or video) and I have to Alt+X and sudo sv resatrt frontend to get it back, and it loses my bookmark in the process. Jump keys still cause it. However if I jump to about 5 minutes away and then "ease in" at no more than 5X ffwd I can get all the way to the end.

Also, similarly, keying in a time and hitting I (Info) will do an absolute jump (seek) to that time.
