Ok....I am currently about 75% done with compiling a guide to walk someone through configuring KnoppMyth to use the PVR350 TV Out, setting up a second instance of LiRC to run to change channels via a homebrew IR transmitter, setting up WebMin, getting ALSA configured for sound and a bunch of other things.

The guide I am putting together is a compilation of mini guides that I found all over the web with the addition of some fixes pertaining to Knoppmyth that I had found along the way. I am creating this guide mainly for myself so I can refer back to it in case I need to re-install Knoppyth from scratch or to build an additional system.

Is anyone interested in this? Can anyone host it on a site so people can access it? It will be in a word document form that I can convert to PDF if someone likes.

The guide is geared towards my system and can possibly work for other systems. My system config if anyone is curious is as follows:

-ASUS Pundit bare bone box (older version)
-P4 2.5 Ghz proc
-512 meg or Ram
-TDK Dual Format DVD burner
-3Com 10/100 NIC card (versions R4V3 - V5 have a problem with the onboard NIC that the Pundit has)
-160 GIG Hard Drive
-Wireless IR Mouse/Keyboard combo
-Hauppauge PVR-350 (older model)
-Home brew "simple" IR blaster connected to my serial port (consists of an IR LED from an old remote, resistor and a DB9 connector)

It's taking me some time to compile this as I am "backtracking" on all my notes I took during the install PLUS a very active 11 month old son.

Please do not email me asking for the guide as it is not complete yet and I would rather put it up on a website instead of emailing a bunch of guides out to people.

Thanks,

Steve

Sounds good, looking forward to it.

PS - if I happen to get brendan.org back up and running any time soon, I'll offer to host it.

PDF it is then!

Like I said, this guide worked for me. In it may be things that could be done differnetly or maybe could be done without BUT these are the steps I took that worked for my system (hopefully will work for others).

I will try to get this finished off by sometime next week.

Right now I am creating it using Word, I'll generate a PDF format of it once completed. I would like to try and keep it in one format that way if i have to update it or edit it, it's only one file to do and I won't have to hunt all the others down.

I am in the process of building an Apache webserver, I may just host it myself OR just open up one of those free webhosting accounts. Anyone have any recomendations for free hosting? This way at least I can have better controll of it if/when I make updates to the How-To.

Hopefully I can have this completed by next week...I just have to run through it after it's done to make sure I didn't miss anything.

Hopefully this will help others out. I'm not a programer but at least I can contribute to Knoppmyth/MythTV in some way by doing this.

You should put it in the wiki. Its an open source world, don't try to control information about it.
