Neither is working.

when I run mythfilldatabase --manual I just get a lot of errors, first a file or directory not found. And then a lot of unexpected end of file.

I suspect that this is the reason to why I don't have any channels.

My other problem is that my Creative Desktop Wireless 6000 USB mouse isn't working.

I've done the "CorePointer" change, but already during install I had a suspicion that there was something wrong as there was quite early reported some hid errors in some inspectmodule...

Can also tell me how I restart the mythtv frontend after exiting to console?

I get:
xterm cant create display:

as an error when I enter xterm or mythtvfrontend

Cheers

USB mice are known to be problematical. If it came with a USB to PS-2 adaptor try that. Otherwise you'll have to dig through your BIOS settings for USB keyboard and mouse support options. The names of those options aren't always very obvious, you may have to resort to the BIOS manual. What you want is for the BIOS to set it up so that by the time the OS boots it looks "just like a 'regular' mouse".

I had a wireless USB mouse (and keyboard) awhile ago. I stopped using it because whenever I woudl reboot I would have to remove it and then plug it back in otherwise the reboot process would freeze until they were removed.
I spent a couple extra bucks and got the wireless ps2 stuff. No probs at all anymore.

The USB Mouse is still a problem, though I tried, knowing that it would be a problem; to run apt-get upgrade.

It then recognized my mouse, but gave me a world of other problems.

Now, onto the tv_grab_* problem.

tv_grab_sn is not anymore a part of the xmltv package, not the current one, and not the one that is shipped with knopmyth.

The current tv_grab_se isn't working either, and neither is the one for norway, tv_grab_no. Although the latter is present in cvs in a working version.

For sweeds they can use tv_grab_se_swedb, to make it work under knopmyth - here is what I did:

1. apt-get install xmltv
2. cd /usr/bin
3. ln -s tv_grab_sn tv_grab_se_swedb
4. apt-get install perl
5. download and install CPAN IO::Wrap
6. download and install CPAN HTTP::Cache::Transparent
7. tv_grab_sn (it then allows me to configure cache)
8. tv_grab_sn --configure (select which channels you're gonna track)
9. mythfilldatabase --manual (voila, finally, no errors!)

This is what the knoppmyth installer says during boot up which I think is related to me not having a mouse.

Changing the XFree conf file doesn't help me (Core pointer fix).

Can anyone help me update my usb drivers, maybe that'll help?

Or maybe my device is somewhere in /dev/*, I'm just not wise to it?

Any help would be appreciated  PS: This subject should maybe be split, and the mouse part moved into Linux section.

The answer is simple. The USB mouse does not work on KnoppMyth. Don't use it. Buy a $6 PS/2 mouse and stop fiddling around with it. I'm sure the mouse issue will be looked at for the next release.

yes the mouse issues should be fixed in the next release. if you really want it to work in the release you have you will have to recompile the kernel.

I'll try that then :)

But how do I know that I add the right piece to get usb mouse working?

I've tried two kernel compile tutorials now :)

well make sure you have enabled the acpi stuff that was removed for R4V3+ and you should be able to safely enable all but local apic and there's always the chance that local apic doesn't give your board a problem, it was removed because it caused problems on lots of nforce2 mb's. of course once you recompile a kernel, you will also have to recompile any modules that don't come with the kernel such as lirc and ivtv at least.
