Hello guys. Just want to thank those that put together such great software. I finally got my live tv and recording and audio working after four days of playing with knoppmyth tv for the first time.

Needless to say my wife is giving me extra lovins :D

Quick question. Can't seem to find an easy answer for my particular setup in the search archives.

I have an old TV that does not have composite or svideo. I'm using DTV rca . Question is how do I connect this stuff. currently i'm connected to my monitor.

Can someone please give me a quick solution?

Is there a way to incorporate a VCR or other component that allows me to integrate the s video connection along with composite audio with my old tv that only has coax connection?

Thanks again !!!!! mythtv rocks

ps I do have one of those electric converters used when you have for example a dvd player that has composite audio and video but your tv has only coax connection. can I use that? How?

You can buy a little box for $20-30 that takes svideo or composite and produces a merged signal. They sell them for people who want to hook a DVD player or the like up to an older TV. When I bought the folks a DVD player last year I had to get one of these at the same time to connect it to their TV. You should be able to find them at any decent consumer electronics store.

Whoops, I missed your last sentence. You either need to go out and find one that takes multiple inputs and lets you switch them or one of those old video game cable input switches. You do not want to try daisy chaining through a VCR or the like which handles multiple inputs since the potential for interference is very high.

ok I have one of thoese but it doesn't have svideo (only composite) wich I need becuase my nvidia card only has the monitor connector and an svideo connector with no composite.

so, in summary:

I should be able to find one that has svideo and basically i'm connecting the svideo from my video card to this box and how deos this box connect to my coax tv connectio?

Looks like we're crossposting....

My Nvidia card came with a little yellow dongle about 2" long by about 3/4" round that you plugged into the "svideo" port (it's really more than that) and it gave you a composite output.

You still probably need to find some kind of switching adaptor. I don't remember how the one I bought for the folks TV is wired. But since the TV only has one cable coax input on the back it must merge them some how... Basically it's got a little slider switch that gives you two or three options for what channel it generates the signal on and no other "controls".

Frankly I'd use the power of the web and hit my favorite sites looking for something similar... Like this...
