hi all, i'm having a problem with my install. after it prompts me to remove the cd and and reboots it goes to a screen with the penguin on top and says "LILO 22.5.6.1 Loading Linux" then a whole bunch text scrolls on the screen, it pretty much goes by too fast for me to see. then the screen just goes blank, but the computer is still running. if i manually shutdown and power up again it goes throught the "LILO" process again
any help?

hmm given that combination it very odd for you to have this problem. Is it an old monitor? have you run the install-nvidia.sh script yet? if not do either ctrl+alt+F2 or alt+F2 whichever one gives you a login prompt. login as root and run the install-nvidia.sh script to install the nvidia drivers.

no you don't have to download it. you may want to update it later, but the driver is included in the install. all you have to do is type install-nvidia.sh after you have logged in as root.

yes do the ctrl+alt+F2 after the screen goes blank.

i686. Only install XvMC if you have an nVidia based card that supports XvMC (Geforce 4 440 and above). XvMC helps in offloading (from CPU to videocard)MPEG-2 playback. Your processor is fast enough that you don't need to install the XvMC package.
