I have R4 working with a PVR-350, after some trial and error and help from the ivtv mailing list I have the TV out working. The problem is when I am watching live TV or a recording the play back is very jerky. I do not have the option selected in MythTV to use the 350 TV out because when I select this all I get is a black screen when watching live TV. I assume the play back is jerky because the video is not going through the MPEG decoder, also the CPU usage is quite high, 90%+. Any ideas what I need to do to fix this?

I have this exact same problem(s). Until I get this fixed I switched from pipeing X through the 350-out to piping X through a VGA card to a monitor. Even going through a VGA card for X I can't get TV 350-out working, and get the same black screen. I can however view TV in X with a monitor just fine runing 50%cpu [P3 800, 128ram].

As a side note, I followed the instructions at http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=69&highlight=350+guide and modprobe ivtv-fb did not give any output to /var/log/messages, and dd if=/dev/video of=/dev/video16 bs=64k piped sound, but no video out the 350 output. So if someone knows what to do to fix that I'd really appreciate it!

serich, you most likely don't have the right input selected. and since you are getting sound you probably also don't have the sound i/o stuff configured properly.

try calling test_ioctl -p 4 to set the input to be the tuner. if you see video but your sound stops working, then you need to fix it by playing with test_ioctl -v input=?,output=? where the ?'s are replaced by some numbers... on mine its input=1,output=2... but I've also seen input=1,output=3

just a guess though...

Well I was very close earlier today to getting it working, I figured out that for some reason the alpha is not getting set correctly and the video is actually "behind" the black as I figured out from the ivtv list. I tried to upgrade to 0.13 and that didn't go so well and I hosed things up, so I am going to start over again tomorrow night or else I may just wait for R5 and see if that makes things easier.
