I'm working on getting MythTV running with the PVR-150, but when i boot, it always hangs on "probing for adapter" (because the PVR-150 is not supported)...how can i get past this? will CTRL-ALT-F1 get me to the shell?

thanks!

Power up the system w/o the card installed. I think something else is wrong w/ your system if it is halting there....

My unit gets to the same point also. My guess is that it does not support the PVR-150, strange as the 150 is a direct replacement for the 250.

the pvr150 is not supported nor is it a direct replacement for the 250. It has a different tuner that is not supported in linux yet.

I understand it's not supported, but my question was more on how i can get past "probing for adapter...", so i can then boot the machine and manually update to the newest beta drivers, as there have been quite a few people who have gotten the PVR-150 working flawlessly with ivtv...

There are lost of posts in the forum about hangs during install. Try typing "knoppmyth vga=normal" at the first prompt when installing and (others have suggested this second option which I have not needed) press the shift key at regular intervals during the install to prevent any display timeouts.

KnoppMyth may not be the best way to learn Linux, but it is far and away the best way to get a set-top box going, and you will find that this forum is invaluable for sorting out any problems that you encounter (Remember to always search first. All of the common problems have solutions described on the forum).
