Hi,

I am new here. I put together an AMD Athlon XP 2100+ box with Biostar motherboard, 512MB RAM, 80GB hard drive and Samsung DVD drive. Today is the third week I am trying to install KnoppMyth on it. It looks like it is finding all the hardware OK, then I go thru the Q/A screens, installation starts and then I get a lot of cloop errors. I have tried three different burning speeds, three different CD brands, two different CD drives, two different systems where I burned the image and nothing. I cant get ride of the cloop errors (everytime they appear at different place during installation).

Any clues? I can't possibly trie another 10 configurations of CD, drive, media.

Also for some reasons from time to time the installation hangs during the drive partitioning with error: "Writing inode tables" and then it shows some numbers like 2/22.

Please help. I am so frustrated with this installation that I am slowly giving up hope. Is there a place where I could buy a pressed copy of KnoppMyth that will work?

Thanks.
Drabina

Wow! That many cloop errors... I'd suggest burning at the lowest speed possible. If you Google, you'll find several places where you can purchase a CD. None are officially connected to KnoppMyth nor recommended by us.

I would check that your system does not have memory problems. I had to change the memory timing parameters in my BIOS to prevent wierd lockups when running mythtv, and I remember that before I fixed this, I got cloop errors during an install. If you can get a working linux system, you can download memtest or memtest86 or something (google for it) to test your memory. It detected many errors on my system, and after changing my memory timing bios parameters, I ran it for ove 24 hours without an error.

Hi,

Thanks to all for a quick reply. It turned out that the problem was caused by one of the memory modules. I have removed it and the installation went through.

Now I am just stuck on the "KnoppMyth R4V5 mysettopbox.com" grey screen and have no idea what to do next, but I am going to search the forum and 'how to' articles. I am happy that the installation was successful.

Thanks again.
Drabina.
