I downloaded the KnoppMythR5A12.iso file and the MD5sum checked out ok. Burning the image to a cd went with no problems. I booted the disk in my to be Myth machine. When I reached the boot screen I typed in testcd. The reply was (Could not find kernel image). Following Wiki R5 install instructions I typed ( knoppix alsa ) The reply was (Could not find kernel image). After about 30 seconds the auto install took off loaded the program and rebooted like expected. The system will boot into Myth but I am experiencing problems. I would like to address this problem first before I move to the next step. How do I check the Image?

I'll double check testcd. While the wiki is great! Perhaps you should follow my instructions...

and also there are several notes on the wiki about new instructions for R5 alphas. I will get a proper R5 page up once it's released.

Which instructions are you talking about? I follow the alpha instructions I can find and get the same sort of behavior...
With R5A12, using "knoppix alsa" at the boot prompt doesn't work (kernel not found), so I just hit return. It eventually gets to a line about "Looking for CDROM" where it just hangs - the busy light on my CDROM drive is on for a little while, then it goes out, but the boot process doesn't continue.
With R5A10, I can use "knoppix alsa" at the boot prompt, but I still end up with the hang at that "Looking for CDROM" line.
This is on a box where I've installed R4V5, but I've been fiddling with trying to get a 2.6.10 kernel on it, so my PVR-350 is recognized (but I've been failing that fun - I keep getting "no such device" errors about /dev/video0 even though the device file is there...I imagine I'm not loading the right drivers/modules there), so I figured I'd start over with the latest KnoppMyth.
Anyways - any RTFM (or other) pointers would be appreciated!
Thanx.

OK - with R5A12, using "knoppmyth alsa" at the boot prompt gets me in, but I still get to this stage:
Found SCSI device(s) handled by: tmscsim.o.
Scanning for USB/Firewire devices... Done.
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hda [ST360015A]
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hdc [LTN486S]
Enabling DMA acceleration for: hdd [DVD-RW IDE1004]
Looking for CDROM in: /dev/scd0
And it eventually cycled to scd1 and hdc, but it seems to be hung on /dev/hdc without anything on the CD's drive activity light. Guess I can leave it there for a few hours while I run off to work now...
