TV is enabled at boot up. Meaning I can put tv at the prompt when the system boots the same way I did with R4V5(I think that is the last stable version and the one that I currently have running) R5A10 did not allow me to even use this command. I saw it was added so I wanted to try it.
Unlike R4V5 it does not stabalize my video monitor, which is a TV resolution screen. I just get a rolling flipping screen.

Is there another way to define the monitor by hand at the command prompt?

Thanks for all the help.

Not sure what you are trying to do. I have a script I just posted that takes a stock install (R4V5 or R5A12) and makes pvr350 out work. Do you have this type of tv capture card, and are you trying to make the card's tv out work?

If so, you can find it here:

I know what he's talking about. He's talking about when you are first booting the CD and trying to install. Unfortunately, the news isn't good. I spent about 30 min trying any and every switch I could think of on R5A12 and none of them gave me a valid tv screen. I ended up having to swap inputs back to install, get everything right then swap back to the tvoutput I wanted.

Ahh..you mean BIOS level TV out worked for the first part of the install but was not there during the configuration portion while X was running...

no on R5A12 it is there for the very first boot: option, and goes away after that long before X ever enters the picture. The last thing you see is loading linux ..... bam everything is gone. My guess is it has to do with the vertical refresh rate no being 60 hz, as my tvout has worked with anything I've thrown at it with 60hz vert refresh.

R5A12 worked for me with TV only (at least until X starts, but I found a way around that). I seem to remember that I didn't use the TV option since it wasn't there in A10 and the install worked.

Have you tried booting without the TV option?
