Does the boot freeze at that point, or do you eventually get a shell prompt or a GUI?

I don't own a pvr-150, but I did some searching on the forum for 'pvr-150' and got lots of hits. Here's a thread on someone getting a pvr-500 working in r5a12, and someone saying they followed the instructions successfully for a pvr-150:

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... ght=pvr150

If your boot process freezes, the simplest thing to do if you're not an experienced Linux user is to remove the pvr-150 card and then see if the box boots up. (If you feel like a guru, boot in interactive mode and just don't load in the saa7114 kernel module.) If it _doesn't_ boot, then you know it's not your pvr-150, and it could be something that Linux wants to load up after the pvr-150, like a soundcard, network card, etc. If it _does_ boot, then you can follow the guide at the link above and see about configuring the system to prepare for when you put the card back in.

I was working with a pvr-350 at one point, and it seems like Hauppage changed chipsets like most people change socks. Some of the definitive howtos for the pvr-350 only worked for people who bought the card the same week as the author... That ivtv line about the unknown chip may be an indicator that you might run into similar trouble with the pvr-150, but try the guide linked above before you worry about that.
