For no apparent reason, from time to time, my system decides to record a program that ends up as a green screen with static at the top, then anything else that is recorded ends up in black and white until I restart the backend.

I have done plenty of research on this and from what I can tell it looks like it's picking the wrong input. I wish I knew the reasoning for this so that I can make it stop.

Has anyone else run into this problem ? And what remedy do you guys recommend ?

There is a key on the keyboard you can press to change the input on the video capture card you are watching. I think it is 'c', but someone else may have better information.

If you are not going to watch anything on any of the other inputs, you should check to see if those inputs are "available" to MythTV. I think you will have to shut down the front end, and from an xterm launch myth-setup, then check your capture card settings. Make sure that if the capture card is recognized as having multiple inputs, that the inputs you are not going to use do not have any assigned sources, or schedules.

If for some reason you still get this, try using the 'c' key in "watch live tv" to see if you can select the correct input.

Again, I don't know that this will help. If you haven't tried these, or checked them, it's a place to start until a better idea comes along.

I have all of that sorted out. No other input is selected, and no other input is available to myth. The problem isn't when watching live tv, it's when recording a program that the Green screen with static apears.

I have gone through the Myth mailing list and seen that a few people had had this problem in the past, but noone has ever answered there questions about it.

do you have the proper paramiters set for the leadtek in your modules? they are not detected correctly by bttv. you have to set options bttv card=34 tuner=2

that is just a guess. If you have already done this just ignore this post.

I have a second copy of lirc compiled so I can use my IR blaster to control my Satellite box. When I add the above line to my modules.conf file, the IR blaster doesn't work anymore for some weird reason.

Does it matter where in the modules.conf file I place the above mentioned ? Or should I place it in the include bbtv file that is mentioned in the modules.conf file ?

Well that is truely odd that it would affect your irblaster, I don't know what to tell you there.

As for where to put it I always put it in the bttv file. that way it stays with all the other bttv stuff, plus if you put it directly into modules.conf the next time anything runs update-modules it will dissapear.

I was putting it directly in the modules.conf file, I will put it in the bttv file and see if that makes a diffrence.

It's trulely wierd, the sir driver is working (when I try to change the channel both the screen flickers for a split second, and I can see the process running) it just seems that the actual IR blaster isn't sending the signal.

I placed the options in the /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv file directly and my ir blaster is now working again.

Looks like it didn't like me adding it directly to the modules.conf file.
