Hi everyone,

I am a total newbie and need some help. The main thing is how do I install my ATI Remote. I have install the latest KnoppMyth. I also need some help w/the video out. I have an ati 9250 video card installed on a nforce2 motheboard (part of a aopen xp cube). I added the 9250 card so I can do high def out to the tv with the ati dvi to component adaptor. I haven't tried it yet, but how hard is it to switch video out types?

The ATI Remote Wonder is supported out of the box with KnoppMyth R5 alpha. It's not set up to do much without some work, but it should at least let you get around the MythTV menus.

The ATI component adapter does not work under Linux, as far as I understand. Search the forum for "ATI component" (check "search all terms") for more info.

I'll have to check again, but it didn't seem to work. Is there a command or something to activate it?

Nope, no command. Don't forget to use the cursor keys at the bottom to get around MythTV menus, not the pseudo-mouse thing at the top.

If that doesn't do it, try editing your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file (su to root before doing so) -- edit it per this web page's instructions:

http://remotew.free.fr/linux_en.htm

Start at the line that says "depending on your distribution..."

Hi jocal69 or anyone that has managed to get the ATI Remote Wonder II to work,

Did you get your remote to work? I have an ATI Remote Wonder II that I can´t get to work. Everywhere it says that it is working out-of-the-box (at least the ATI Remote Wonder (I), is there a difference?), mine is not working at all. I have followed the description at http://remotew.free.fr/linux_en.html, but I don´t receive any keypresses, at all. The ati_remote module is loaded:

Code:
root@mythtv:/usr/src# lsmod |grep ati_remote
ati_remote             12936  0
usbcore               101368  5 ati_remote,usb_storage,ohci_hcd,uhci_hcd

/var/log/messages shows:

Code:
Sep  8 22:51:14 mythtv kernel: usbcore: registered new driver ati_remote
Sep  8 22:51:14 mythtv kernel: drivers/usb/input/ati_remote.c: Registered USB driver ATI/X10 RF USB Remote Control v.
 2.2.1

during boot.

I can see the device in /proc:

Code:
root@mythtv:~# cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
[snip]
T:  Bus=01 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#=  3 Spd=12  MxCh= 0
D:  Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS= 8 #Cfgs=  1
P:  Vendor=0471 ProdID=0602 Rev= 0.00
C:* #Ifs= 2 Cfg#= 1 Atr=a0 MxPwr=100mA
I:  If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E:  Ad=81(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS=   8 Ivl=10ms
I:  If#= 1 Alt= 0 #EPs= 1 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=00 Prot=00 Driver=(none)
E:  Ad=82(I) Atr=03(Int.) MxPS=   8 Ivl=10ms

I have recompiled the ati_module following the description Luthair wrote in http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4436&highlight=ati+remote but still no luck :(

Is there anyway I can see if the low level part is working, receiving of bits and bytes from the remote (should xev do that, nothing appears when I press a button)?

Do I need to edit the ATI_REMOTE_PRODUCT_ID in ati_remote.c?

Any help is appreciated.

I am using the newest KnoppMyth, release R5A16 and I have a PVR-350 which is working great (finally  ).

Regards,

Lars
