I think we've beat to death why it happens It's quite obvious it's the libc change that happened recently in debian stable. If you don't want to have the problems look at my sticky post in the hints and tips section on safely installing firefox.

I got rid of the wallpaper error by editing as a mythtv user the file ~/.fluxbox/init and looking for "session.screen0.rootCommand: fbsetbg......

and deleting this line. No desktop image ;-( but a working MythTV box :-)
I recommend backing up the file first, just incase.

Found that apt-get update, then apt-get install imagemagick solved the problem.

Apparently ImageMagick needed upgrading

Fixed it this way:

as user mythtv
edit ~/.fluxbox/init

change
session.screen0.rootCommand: fbsetbg -f /usr/local/lib/knoppmyth.png
to
session.screen0.rootCommand: bsetroot -solid black

thanks Tom :) i like the black background a little better than the default image.

i started getting the popup error after running: apt-get update || apt-get install lirc-x xdialog

i was following the instructions in this thread: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2774
on how to restart mythfrontend using your remote when it crashes. when i initially did the update/install i was going against the testing sources. i changed those to stable, but i like Tom's solution better.

I tried bodfa's suggestion of running the apt-get install imagemagick.

This did the trick, thanks.

I like the wallpaper. I only see it when mythfrontend is not running. So I edited mine to display a big message to remind the viewer to hit the GO button on the remote to restart mythfrontend.
