how would one go about reinstalling all of the plugins for knoppmyth R5A16?
I have read all the topics I could find but I am a little wearry about killing the box.

I have got the plugins from mythtv.org the .18 not the .18.1
I have run the make and make install.

what else do I have to do?

Thanks

Perhaps a search of the forum? Debs for the 0.18.1 plugins are included. If you want to recompile MythTV, perhaps reading the MythTV docs? Again, all this has been covered on the forum before....

I know they have been covered. However, to me I just want find out what other people have done.

Not all of us are linux guru's nor can I spell for the matter.
I just wanted to know how someone step by step has done it.
Just as an example:
In your documentation you dont state where you need to be to untar the files to, and if the files that it extracts goes to the right directory or if you need to put it in the /myth directory and then extract or can you extract anywhere and it knows the "propper" path to goto.

I have many more questions about the compile and that is why I was asking in this post.

I have a good thing now and I dont want to lose it again.

Basically I want all the functions of the plugins, I noticed that the stock knoppmyth is stripped of the ripping functions. But I know thats a touchy subject so I didnt want to word it like that.

First off, KnoppMyth as all the official MythPlugins. WIth R5A22, I've even included some unofficial plugins. If you know this has been covered before (BTW: What people have done before is covered in the various threads), why start a new post? Why not append to the exist thread(s) and state I don't quite understand the above, can someone please break it down?.

As cecil noted, Knoppmyth has all of the plugins. Ripping is included. What you're probably referring to is CSS encryption which is entirely separate from MythTV and it's plugins. If you want to know more about it, try Googling for info about CSS and DVD encryption.

Whats nice is qustions are always answered here.......>

No I was talking about the cd ripping. But CSS is something I would have mentioned eventually.

you all are exactly right. After some playing with I noticed that the options were not there and some reason the cdrom was not being reconized and that was my problem..

Thank you all for your help. And sorry if this seemed usless but not to me!!
