Hello, I hope someone can help me. I'm about ready to give up on mythTV. Some time ago, I purchased a Shuttle box with an FN85 board. I have an AMD64 2800 with 512MB of RAM. I also am using a serial hard drive. I have a Hauppage WinPVR350 installed along with a gforce 4000mx card. I don't know if I need the gforce card, but I used it because it had a vga out so that I could set up Knoppmyth on the machine. Anyway, I have been working with this setup for a long time trying to get it to work. What I have done so far is install Knoppmyth following the howto. I used the manual install method because I have the serial hard drive. Everything went great. I was able to hook the TV up to the gforce card and the system start up messages and then the mythtv startup screen came up. The remote worked as far as navagating through the screen. But when I selected the Watch TV button, the screen went black and no video appeared. I searched through the forums and found a script that would install the latest ivtv drivers and configure mythtv to use the PVR 350 for TV out. I ran the script, and hooked up the TV to the Svideo out on the PVR 350 card. Now when I start up the myth box, I get a black screen that briefly flashes " 4:3 INPUT 1". Then the screen flashes green followed by the X desktop for a split second. Then the mythTV startup screen appears. (I assume that everything to this point is normal). When I use the remote to select Watch TV, the screen goes black and briefly flashes "1: S-video 0" and that is it. The TV stays black. Sorry if I'm being too verbose. I'm not sure what to do. I poked around some of the logs, but I didn't see anything that looked wrong. However, I'm not sure what I should be looking for. Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is some additional information. Hope this helps. I escaped from the mythTV screen back to the Knoppmyth desktop and opened a terminal. I ran "mythtv" and the screen went blank. I waited several seconds and hit the escape key on the keyboard. The terminal window had the following output:

First of all the display "4:3 INPUT 1" is from your TV looking for a signal not from the mythtv box.

I sounds like you don't have any channels defined. Have you added a channel listing in myth-setup? How do you get your TV signal? (cable, satallite?) I'll assume cable. Did you assign the channel listing to the tuner0 input on your pvr-350 card? Did mythfilldatabse run correctly? Do you see the correct channel lineup when you view listings in mythtv?

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!

I ran myth-setup again and assigned video input to tuner0 and then ran mythfilldatabase. I restarted the mythbox and HOORAY!!! the video is working. Sorry for being stupid. However, I have no sound coming from the TV. What do I do to get the sound working from the TV?

Your welcome. Your second question should really be in a second thread. Where is your audio cable plugged into your computer? It should be plugged into the line-out of your pvr-350 card, not the line-out of your soundcard/onboard-sound.

If you want sound from both TV and mplayer you need to route the line-out from your pvr-350 to the line-in on your soundcard and configure the mixer to allow both sources to be output through one connection.

I do have the sound hooked up to the line out of the PVR card. I'll check some things and if I still have a problem, I'll post a new thread about the sound issue. Thanks again for your help.
