Hi,

I've installed and configured the frontend and the backend of mythTV. I can get the program listing loaded from zapit. Weather and News feeds work fine. However, when I run the frontend it seems that it can't find it backend. It said the that the IP address can't be found on the backend. I'm only running both frontend and backend on the same machine. I've checked my network settings and they seem fine. What's the problem?

I'm running it with the following:

Newest ver of KnoppMyth that I just downloaded last week
P4 2.6Ghz ECS 804 Motherboard with onboard sound and network
1 Nvida MX 4000 APG Video out
2 ATI Wonder PCI Video In

PLEASE HELP!!!

You need to search the forum and wiki. You need to find out why the backend isn't running and how to solve this problem. You need to investigate the backend log. Again, this has been covered on the forum and wiki.

Hint - This is one of the topics covered on the TroubleShooting page of the wiki...

I'm looking at the log right now for the backend server. I'm getting a segmentation fault

"Changing from None to RecordingOnly NVR: v412: format set, getting yuyv from v4l, converting strange error flushing buffer...
segmentation fault"

What's the problem?

Questions:

1) I guess my question should be is this a driver issues? or I'm configuring something wrong on the mythtv-setup? I've been reading a few of the sites, it seems that getting the ATI wonder pro capture cards to work is tricky.

2) Will I need to do any tweaking with the current ver of KnoppMyth to work with ATI conder pro card?

3) What driver will work with ATI wonder pro? It seems that I see alot of info out there, but nothing really concrete. BTTV? Or CX88xx? Wait...what is the best driver for the card?

The driver that is used is dependent on the chipset on the tuner. You cannot choose between btXYZ and cxXYZ. You may have to specify the card and tuner type in /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv. Again, search for greater details.

I've looked on the wiki site. The card they talk about there is the ATI Wonder VE. It is not the ATI Wonder Pro. Any other ideas as for a driver that will work? I'm at my wits end :(

Have you tried Google? The MythTV mailing list/archive? Sorry, I know nothing specific about the card.

The cx88xx modules are already included.
Code:
modprobe cx<tab>

However, you may need newer drivers. Now that v4l and DVB are one, I'd suggest taking a gander at linuxtv.org.

It's alive, kinda of :(

1) Live TV sound will not turn off even when playing a DVD. I have to reboot machine to kill it.

2) When I record a TV program, no sound when played back.

3) I can't record two programs a once, but I have two tuners.

Any ideas?

Well,

I was reading the forums and saw that I have to mute the inline or mic line and pipe all the sound though PCM. If I do that I get no sound with live tv. Does anyone know how to sent this up? As the forums are lacking in details

I'm using the following sound cards:
Set 1 Sound Blaster Live 24bit

Set 0 Onboard ALS Sound
