I was wonder if an ASUS K8N with a Athalon 64 3000+ processor and a 8x AGP video card is good enough for mthtv. I was going to use my 1GHZ P3, but I read somewhere that it might be a bit slow. A couple of people suggested using the new PCIe graphics boards, but that is still a bit pricey for my budget.

What you want to look at is the chipset of the board. VIA is known to be problematic and both Intel and nVidia are fine. The biggest drain on your system will be decoding Digital TV and that is why most of us suggest, bigger is better.

AGP for video is fine, again as long as you get a well supported chipset such as nVidia. ATI is slowly catching up, but use nVidia if possible.
