I think I might be getting somewhere about this problem. My homebrew serial port is not recognized... and I have a hauppauge 150 with NO remote.

I've been banging my head against the wall - but now I think I'm getting somewhere...

I did the dpkg-lirc reconfigure script (sorry I can't remember the script exactly here...) - but after reconfiguring, it STILL didn't work.

After reading the man page for LIRC, I queried the driver for it, and was returned an error in which I was promted to use this format:

Use LIRC 7.x.x.xpvr150 --device.... etc......
......it quotedpvr150as being part of the LIRCD file!!

... If this may be part of the problem, how do I disable the pvr150, and get LIRC to recognize the serial port - do I modify the hardware.conf file - and what driver do I use?

Here is what I am using...

--- 30.2
--- Homebrew LIRC (circuit right from LIRC pages)
--- Hauppauge 150 with no remote...

What I want to do is use the remote long enough to make the configuration file to use an IR blaster to control my stb...

Any takers for this one?

Thanks![/b]

Here is a wiki entry for LIRC and Knoppmyth that I used to get up and running with my home built receiver.

http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LIRCHowTo

It's a little chewed up but you should be able to follow it. Bottom line is you need to recompile LIRC so that it compiles the lirc_serial modual. There are also some lines you will need/want to add to /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh in order to configure your serial port to work with your home built receiver.

Good Luck,

Martian
