I'm a newbie to Myth & might be migrating from Ubuntu (otherwise a great OS unless using Myth with it) and hoping to import video from my cable box from Time Warner, an SA3250.

Does anyone have joy with changing channels using firewire - no IR blaster? I confirmed that this works using 3rd party drivers in Windows, but have to ask before I commit another couple hours to reinstalling.

I do believe w/ o.19, you can do this with the cable box in question. Perhaps, going to mythtv.org and reading the release notes.

I have aldephia cable with a hd3250, as soon as the new knoppmyth is ready I will be tring this out and will let you know how it works. I just hope aldelphia has turned on the firewire port. I have read that there are some issues depending on the cable boxes firmware.

I have no idea about that box, but I can confirm that recording and channel change both work fine on moto 6200.

You will probably need to pester Adelphia for this, unless they're a step ahead of Time Warner. I asked ahead of time, and they still didn't give me a firewire enabled box!
