Hello!

I am using mythtv-backend-0.19-120 and all things seem well except i cannot get the channel scanner to pick 2 multiplexes. The signal/noise indicator reads 85% but it does not pick up.
Does it have to be higher than 85%? I get some output from tzap looks like this : Any advice is greatly appreciated.

tzap "Channel 4"
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
tuning to 850000000 Hz

Your Bit Error Rate (ber) seems rather high. I have struggled with getting azap to work from the beginning (I have an Air2PC-HD5000), but in every case where I've managed to get a signal lock, the bnr has always been 0000000. Unfortunately, even when I DO get a signal lock, my signal strength column shows 0000000 as well, so my results my not be particularly accurate or useful. :)

Thanks for the reply. I am only using a set top aerial and will probably need something a little higher and a little more outdoors! Although I am only 5 miles from the transmitter and i believe i got a reasonable line of site. The BBC channels work great but probably need more than 85% signal to get a good picture.

The thing that i dont understand is that my when i plug in the freeview box i get channel4, e4 etc from the same aerial. Maybe the dvb card is having problems.

My experience has been that the signal level on a scan shows about 85% in the ranges where it doesn't pick up any channels, where it's locked in and fetching channels from the (er, I forget the term, the frequency that carries a group of channels) it shows more like 20%.
subsequently, myth reports strength of about 20% on tuned in channels.
I am able to recieve all channels broadcast, generally fault free.

So my point is that the 85% level you are seeing may be misleading.

It's also possible that your particular tuner shows some different level in myth, personally I'm using freecom DVB-T usb sticks, never tried anything else.
