Hi,

I've trawelled this forum, but don't seem to have come across anyone with the same problem.

I've installed knoppmyth on an epia M1000N, with a 250pvr card.

The installation goes fine, but when i reboot, i can only get an output to TV, and not to vga as well, thr monitor just sleeps. (I understand that more people have difficulty switching to TV from monitor, but hey, why not be different!)

As a result of this, i can't read the small font on my telebox to actually setup mythtv.

I've tried changing the XFree86-4 config file, but to no joy.
Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

(Incidentally, i can switch to the different virtual terminals on my monitor)

the other option there are some tips somewhere on the forums I forget exactly which keys and mouse clicks it is, but there is a menu you can bring up and make your fonts bigger in an Xterm. you could use that trick to get you through the install.

Yes, there is a way to get output to both the monitor and the tv. There are actually two alternatives, one where the two screens join together for an extended workspace where a single image spans both screens; and another where the two screens show the same image.

I think what you want is the latter case. In this case one of the screens is the primary and another the secundary, for the most part they both show the same image, except when you play movie or something along those lines; at this time, the image only shows on your primary display.

Google for XF86Config and tv-out and monitor-out, look for concepts like "twinview" or "dualdisplay"...for example, I just found one:

Good luck.

With my M10000N, I go into the BIOS and change the Display Type setting between CRT & TV to suit...
