With everything that MythTV can do, I have always thought it could look so much better. Esthetics (aesthetics) like the word itself is as much about taste as it is functionality. I have complained enough about the themes available for myth, that I finally shut my mouth and dived in. Taste? Well, I don't know, I liked it when I started this project, and now I am so sick of it, I think I hate it. O well. It is nearing completion, and I wanted to get some feedback from users before I finalize anything. This has been an interesting process, and the limitations of myths theme setup are painfully apparent.
So, without further ado...

The screenshots look GOOD! Especially the "watch videos" one - very clever.
I'd try it...

It does, indeed look very good. Personally, I'd rather have the main menu name horizontal across the top, rather than down the left side and the MythTV at the bottom right instead of the top right, but thats a personal preference. :)

Good work, there.

Wish I could check out your theme but your URL only leads to a page with a meta refresh command. Why don't you just post a direct link?

The struggle has really been all the real windows, like playback, guide, recording manage, etc.. It has been an interesting learning experience, and frustrating with what you can not do. I started by mocking things up in photoshop after looking through what little theme documentation there is, and some examples. But when it came down to starting it was one compromise after another to get it where it is. But I have been testing for 2 days now, and it is coming along well. I hope to have it available for DL in the next 2 weeks. I may release it without all the plugin windows done yet, and just use the defaults while I workout the bugs in them.

I also am thinking about creating a few other background base colors for those who do not like blue. Any suggestions? In doing this one, I have come up with a few other designs I really want to see done. One is sort of an art gallery design that I mocked up. I think I will have a different theme on each of my front-ends...

good work!

As a fellow themer I can fully appreciate the work that goes into this - it's no easy job!!

I'm not a fan of blue-ish themes, but it looks very nice all the same.

My theme is due for an over-haul, with a new, brighter, shiny look.

juski, Your project ProjectGrayhem is nice. I used your new widescreen for a bit, and actually have been using some of yours as reference to how to do this crazy thing. ProjectGrayhem is much better than the LXMSuite themes, but we here are not huge fans of dark dark UI's. Some brightening up like you say would be awesome. Thanks for your work on that theme. I really like the XBMC theme it is based on. I just wish myth allowed us to do image fade in/out effects, and smooth selection slides like it does. Keep up the good work.

Thanks.

I've been following development of the new UI as much as I can, and lots of eye candy is on its way, so I'm led to believe :D

Good efforts with the theme.
Good layout, it's really difficult to get type looking right when it's vertical like that, but looks like it works. Is the black bar along the top mirrored at the bottom? When working in print graphic designers always have a slightly larger boarder at the bottom, otherwise the image looks like it's sliding off the page, your theme may suffer from this and the impression the image is sliding off the screen.
DBy the way, did you take the photos yourself or are they images you found on the internet? It looks very professional.
The only thing I don't like is the texture on the background... a smooth finish? Ah, only nit-picking. Looks great.
