On to the next crisis...

When I play my mythburn'ed DVDs, the menus look fine, but when the main content starts playing...it's duplicated 1.5 times wide on the screen.

I get a normal height image, but the width of the 'first' image is about 3/4 of the screen, and then there's a second half-screen-width duplicate to the right of that.

What did I do wrong?

...and just to make it more interesting, the disc plays that way on one DVD player, and it plays fine on another.

Anyone? I just burned another DVD, and the same thing happened again when I was testing it out.

The opening and menus work fine...but as soon as I start playing the actual content, it flips into one and a half wide mode. Two complete video images side by side: 3/4 wide version of the video image on the LH side of the screen, 1/4 wide version of the video image on the RH side.

The disc plays like that in one DVD player in the house (and one at work too...didn't impress my co-workers with that demonstration...) but plays fine in other DVD players.

Something to do with PAL/NTSC??? (I am in the US, and picked NTSC)

Is the content 16:9? My mythburn'ed 16:9 recordings when played back in my DVD player on my 4:3 TV have the whole image displayed to fill the screen which gives everything a skinny look. This didn't happen with earlier versions of mythburn.

I did some digging and found that the recording profiles were set to 480x480. I experimented and found that changing that to 720x480 seems to fix the problem when it's burned to DVD. (That fixes it for new recordings at least, not sure if I can fix my existing recordings) Apparently some DVD players are smart enough to do the right thing with the 480x480 data...and others aren't.
