I'm using the USB IR receiver that came with my FusionHDTV 5 Gold tuner card, as well as the included MCE remote. I installed a new LIRC config file with the added section that supports this MCE remote. After rebooting I can run IRW from a command line and see the keypress data from the remote. However, trying to use the remote in MythTV results in...nothing. I can't navigate, and keypresses don't seem to do anything within the program. Is there a setup step I've missed?

Sounds like you need to edit/replace your lircrc (/home/mythtv/lircrc is a symlink IIRC). Replace the name of the buttons referenced in lircrc with the (exact) labels produced by irw. These lables are defined in a file somewhere (/etc/lirc/lircd.conf?) which I'm guessing is the LIRC config file you replaced. In any case lircrc and lircd.conf need to have exactly the same labels. Can't remember if it works immediately or you need to restart lirc/mythtv/reboot :-)

Lirc seems a bit picky, sometimes you have to reboot the whole system to make it work after any changes.

Yeah in general in Linux you should be able to restart a server and everyone else should play along, but as I've said before the LIRC stuff is funky like that. You really need to restart everything that's stacked on top of it in a particular order and it's not obvious what all the pieces are...

I am having the exact problem. I can change channels from the IRW command line, and both my lircd.conf and lircrc Lables all MATCH, but I can't change the channels with MythTV.

BUT, I cannot change channels with the KEYBOARD either, Up and Down does not change channels, so my question is this:

What files are responsible for tying the Keyboard presses to the label commands? I think If I can get it to work with the keyboard, everything else will work.

Setup within Mythfrontend will allow you to remap keys if thats whats really necessary. Or Mythweb.

Ok, I figured everything out. I didn't have my box connected to the Net. I was assuming that I would be able to change channels because I was able to do it on the command line.

You have to run the MythFrontEnd while connected to the net so it can populate the channels, and then MythFillDatabase pulls in all the listings. After that, I am good to go.

Thanks everyone.
