My installation hangs during install after partitioning.

copies files to about 23% and stops.

1.33Ghz AMD
2x 40gb HD

I fdsk'd both hd's before install, and that gets me past the partitioning, but halts after partially copying files.

Any help would be appreciated.

Bad burn. Media and drive incompatibilty. Try burning at a lower speed.

I'll also mention you might want to check your RAM. I've seen on Windows machines, that they do partial loads and then halt. Replacing the RAM fixed the problem...

Just a simple suggestion.

I'm having basically the same problem, it keeps stopping "copying files" at 30%. I'll try reburning the CD.

Actually now it is at 56% but that's definitely taking forever. I'm burning another copy of the iso right now.

Add the "testcd" option to your boot line to make sure it's good. Even if you burn without errors and can read/verify a CD on another drive there may be drive to drive issues with CDs you've burned yourself. The usual suggestions involve low speed burning, trying different media, ...

Curiously, I was having this same problem. I downloaded the iso, burned it to a CD and got this problem. I repeated the burn and try cycle 3 times on 2 different media manufacturers and 2 different PCs with 2 different burners. Each time I had the same problem. I ran md5sums and I had a good file too.

I finally ticked the box finalize media after writing in cdburnerxp and I didn't see this again (whether that actually fixed the problem or not I don't know, maybe some other variable was at work). I was definitely able to install to 3 different machines with the finalized CD.
