Last evening i upgraded from kernel 2.6.12.3 to the latest 2.6.15, upgraded Nvidia drivers from 7667 to 8178, and made several modifications to my MythTV settings. When i at last sat down to watch TV i discovered that the Live TV and even recorded shows was VERY choppy. How ever watching movies was still OK.. Running TOP revealed that the mythfrontend process consumed 95% CPU, normaly i get 16%! I tried to go back to my old Myth-settings and kernel but without any result. Finaly i downgraded my Nvidia drivers to my old ones, and it worked! I have remade the changes to my Myth-settings and have installed kernel 2.6.15 but with the old Nvidia driver and it still works great. Strange, but i thought you should know.
Xine and Mplayer didn't get affected, i also run the latest Nvidia drivers on my workstation without any problems..

Wow - that is wierd. I just got an NVIDIA MX440 installed today and was having all kinds of problems with it on the newest driver. Downgrading did the trick. Thanks for your post; I would have not thought to try a downgrade.

The problem is most likely having the OpenGL Vsync setting enabled in your tv playback settings. This is a known problem with the 8xxx series drivers. Disabling this setting should put CPU usage down to normal levels.

misterflibble, glad to see I'm not the only one to read the Release Notes. :D
