For some reason Mplayer won't allow me to play encrypted dvds.

Normally would just be able to install libdvdcss2 and it would work happily, but from looking at the command line output it looks like it no longer uses the css library. What should I do to get mplayer playing dvds again ? I do not particularly want to try recompiling mplayer if I can avoid it.

I do have xine and ogle able to play dvds. But xine's menu support is rubbish and ogle is slow and jittery and won't start in full screen from the command line.

Any suggestions ?

Thank you. I did search the forums but couldn't find anything.

Douglas.

well then you didn't search the forums very well. We really can't say too much for legal reasons, but it only takes one command to install the css support, and I know it has slipped out in the forums before. A hint dig around in /usr/src/doc/libdvdread3 look for some examples or something, and make sure you are root.

Yes I did this and have exactly the same error message. I have messed around with the mplayer dvd playing command line though so possibly this messed something up ?

Could someone please remind me of the default command line. As the dvd starts up fine, it just gets all messed up after the introductory chapter.

ogle works fine now though since I discovered the config file in /etc :)

My only other current problem is to do with audio.

I have an shuttle sn41g2. Which works very well. My next question is I have three audio outputs on the back.

Front : Rear : Centre

Is it possible to have it set up so that I can plug the Front output into my TV (as I have now and it works fine) and have exactly the same sound going through the Rear output into the hi fi so I can listen to music without needing the TV turned on ?

I can use the output from the headphone socket but this is not ideal.

Thank you again,

Douglas
