Hi,

When I used 0.18 previously I would grep a line containing BBC ONE out of my channels.conf and put all the varius figures, inc one long number into the tuner and it would find all the channels.

The scan in the latest Knoppmyth seems to not work the same, when I try entering these values in the 'tuned' section I get most channels but not all. Same with a 'full uk scan', this gives me everything except the BBC channels?

I don't really understand the meaning of the varius tuning numbers and how they relate to the channels picked up. I am on the mendip transmitter fwiw.

Many thanks

Dom

I have found that sometimes, I have to do the full channel scan a number of times in order to get all channels. They sped the scan up quite a bit, but it does seem to be a littel unreliable. Perhaps the BBC channels do not transmit the channel information packets as often as the other channels.

In mythtv 0.19 I have not needed to enter any information about the channels. Just do a couple of full channel scans, and it picks everything up. YMMV

Yeah, I get confused with terminology, be nice if someone could explain what transports are etc. and how they relate to physical channels.

Thanks

A transport and a multiplex are synonymous for the digital stream that is transmitted on a single frequency.

In Australia, a network usually has a single transport. On that transport they can multiplex a number of channels. In australia, this is often a standard def channel and a high def channel (as well as some radio channels).

With older versions of myth. I had to enter the frequencies for each transport manually, along with the bandwidth (which in all cases in australia was 7 MHz). I would then do an existing trasport scan, and it would tune the card to each of the frequencies I had entered and examine the stream to see what channels were on it.

With 0.19 mythtv, I just just do a full channel scan, and it uses the australia frequency table to tune to every possible transport frequency to see if it can lock onto a transport and detect the channels on it.

I see so, the number in my scan/dvb-t/uk-Mendip file '754167000' is my transmitters frequency correct?

..and the numbers in my channel.conf such as..

Code:
BBC ONE:778166670: ..

..is the transport number the channel is on?

Thanks
