Hi all!

I have a HTPC with Windows XP and Fedora Core 4 installed on one harddrive with grub that lets me choose which OS to boot.

Fedora has been nothing but trouble for me so far, nad now I am willing to try KnoppMyth instead. I would like to "overwrite" my existing Fedora setup with KnoppMyth.

I have been trying to use the KnoppMyth installation CD, but I get this error all the time:
Code:
usr/local/bin/KnoppMyth-auto: line 608L . 1000000: syntax error: operand expected (error token is "/1000000")

I have been trying knoppmyth=nodma and knoppmyth=reverse at the boot prompt. I have also verified that my SATA drive is set as the first device on my primary controller in BIOS.

Are my errors related to the fact that the disc is not empty? I am having a 350Gb partition with a lots of music, movies and pictures that I am not willing to sweep out. And also I would like to keep my Win XP partition for a while until i get a satisfying KnoppMyth Linux version of my HTPc working.

Could I please get any hints about how to approach this issue?

Not that I'm an expert, but as I'm passing I thought I'd give you a nuge which might be in the right direction.
Have you verified your KnoppMyth burn to be good? (Checked the MD5SUM?)
From when I've installed KnoppMyth onto my media centre it will over write everything, if you let it.
There are problems with the KnoppMyth installer as it has problems with SATA discs. PATA are far easier to install to.
It might just be related to that.
Good luck getting it sorted and escaping from the iron grip of Microsoft

Thanks for the reply!

The CD boots up and I can access all boot / install menus without any problems. I haven't checked the MD5SUM, how do I do that?

I have a expensive SATA drive, and do not wish to buy another one.

Found this little piece of information
Code:
Currently if you have an SATA drive, you must use           Manual Install

I think I have tried auto install only... so I will have another go with a manual install.

For SATA installation, you have to do a manual install. I only have a PATA drive, so I can't comment on how to install on on SATA. Search this forum or look on the wiki.
MD5SUM.... I have a little program on my Win PC at home that I use. Unfortunately I'm not there to check what it is.
Having googled MD5Sum: I found a whole range of things related to checking files, ISO, etc. This one looked promising: http://theopencd.sunsite.dk/md5.php
Oh and there is the TESTCD thing you can do when you first boot up using your KnoppMyth CD.
