I must have done soemthign wrong because i get errors.

All i did was run the script by typing
Code:
create_lvm.sh /dev/hda3 /dev/hdb1

(this seemed successful)

Then i followed it up with
Code:
umount /myth

When i typed that i got this error.
Code:
umount: /myth: not mounted

Then i followedi t up with this.
Code:
mke2fs -j -O sparse_super -m0 -i8000000 -L myth /dev/vg/myth

i get this error back.

Code:
Could not stat /dev/vg/myth --- JNo such file or directory.
The device apparently does not exist; did you specify it correctly?

Any ideas where i went wrong?

That one is harmless.

Try restarting the lvm stuff, and looking at the log file /var/log/messages

I restarted the process and this is what i got. Var log is really big and it doens't seem to help. Shoul i include it?

Code:
root@mythtv:/home/mythtv# create_lvm.sh /dev/hda3 /dev/hdb1

Oops... Sorry I was in a rush earlier. I meant something more like this:
Code:
umount /dev/vg/myth
/etc/init.d/lvm stop
/etc/init.d/lvm start

OBTW - Time for some full on debugging. What does the "mount" command show? Also we just want the tail end of /var/log/messages with any lvm related activity when you do that.
