It's about 2 days i spend my time on your myth distro...
Finally i think that all works.
I had some problems with xmltv and italian xml parsing...
I resolved using tv_grab_it.
Can you say if am i wrong?...
I put this two lines in my /etc/cron.daily/mythtv-backend

su iceman -c "/usr/bin/tv_grab_it --config-file /home/iceman/.xmltv/tv_grab_it.conf --output /home/iceman/test.xml"
iceman is the user i created...

su mythtv -c "/usr/bin/mythfilldatabase --file 1 1 /home/iceman/test.xml --quiet"

I don't know how, but all works! (i didn't try crontab updates...)
First line re-creates my test.xml file by my tv_grab_it configuration
I am not sure that second line is good... if i clean "program"'s table in mysql db and i launch this command, the xmltv structure works...
Is this the best command i may use or is anyelse command more correct?

Is possible to disable the live encoding while watching tv?
I would use knoppmyth only to watch tv and schedule some program... (i have a P3 800 with 256mb ram and 40gb hd, leadtek wintv 2000 deluxe)

I have another problem... but i don't want to stress you anymore...
I use a 3dfx voodoo3 3000 16mb with tvout and i use only tvout...
I don't know why, but if i use TDFX driver, i obtain hardware acceleration (only in monitor) and tv make strange colors. If i use FBDEV driver, tvout works well but i can't see tv or recorded programs...
I've just tried to boot only with tvout (SVIDEO), but there is no difference...
Any idea?

I'm certain you Enlish is better than my Italian. Currently encoding cannot be disabled while watching live TV. The 3Dfx issue is probably related to drivers not supporting acceleration w/ TV out(just a guess). Your setup for XMLTV looks fine. They is however already a cron job that is setup to grab the guide which you can delete.

I dont't know why 3dfx (tdfx) driver haven't acceleration w/ tv out... I tried other htpc software (like Movix) and all works (ok, i know this is mplayer based...)
This morning, at 6:25, the daily crontab went in error. tv_grab_it did right his job... mythfilldatabase returned an error... 512. I didn't check if mysql database updated...
I think that tv_grab_it gets 7 days of programs. In this way, when everyday i run this command and try to update database, it try to reINSERT into mysql 6 days that already exist and only one updated.
Is it possible that 512 error refers to this kind of situation?
Where can i get a complete documentation of mythfilldatabase?

I suggest joining and posting to the MythTV mailing list. I don't know how/what Movix uses to accomplish acceleration on TV out.
