well it used to be easy, and it will be again, but for the time being apt is rather solidly broken in knoppmyth. Should be fixed for R6, but that is quite a ways off yet.

Well...that sucks.

Can I use an older version of knoppmyth? And if so what features/bugfiexes would I lose?

nah going back won't help you at this point. the problem came when debian released their last stable release and unstable went to hell.

So I'm probably still best off trying to get my myth backend going in ubuntu and using knopp for the frontend?

B@H! The hell with it. I've been trying to get mythtv installed on ubuntu (dapper) for a week, it just doesn't want to work.

I give up. I'm giong to setup two boxes. One for the mythtv backend with knoppmyth, and another with ubuntu dapper for qmail and a few other things.

Stupid PITA.

Hi,

Darn, I hate it when I miss things that I'm not suppose to do... I don't do Qmail, or gnome on my R5 Cool 7 but there isn't much else I don't do (as time permits, I even watch tv) The sources.list that Human posted a while back somewhere on the forum has given me nice clean apt-get installs. Probably just want to make the / a little bigger or use that left over cache partition from an A series install.

I don't use Firefox however use mozilla instead with java and flash. Anyway, worse thing that will happen is you break it and you have to redo an upgrade to restore. That happened to me once a long time ago with firefox, maybe A16 era.

I do need to make my printer work again as I have not gotten around to that since the last upgrade, and the phone...

Have a great day!
Mike
