I'm in Sydney, Australia.

I've installed Knoppmyth R5C7 to a clean hd.

I have an Avermedia 771 tuner card.

Knoppmyth finds all of the appropriate modules and the card and tuner are set correctly ( card=123 tuner=4) automatically - these are correct because on the same PC, different HD Kanotix runs DVB-T in Kaffeine without problems with these settings - perfect reception on all channels. MythTV channels.conf is set-up properly as all channels show in Setup. - have even tried copying the channels.conf from Kanotix to /home/mythtv of Knoppmyth.

Problem 1) MythFrontend ( on KnoppMyth PC) "Watch TV" loads Channel 31 first - cant change to other channels - Signal Strength is 94% but I don't get anything in the way of TV on screen.

How do I select another channel to be the default?

Problem 2) Although I can connect to the Web OK, attempting to use Synaptic to install "dvbstream" as recommended as part of setup on "Andy's MythTV - www4.tpg.com/undy/mythtv/mythtv.htm) fails as 'not found"

Repository info please - also want to install Midnight Commander.

You need to re-run mythtv-setup (instructions on wiki) and set the default channel for that card/source. Can't remember exactly where but you'll find it.

There may well be an apt-get source for this package, but I just downloaded the package, and untarred. I don't think I even needed to make/make install but if theres no executable, then do that
