Hi,
I bought one of these bad boys to cool and quiet my mythboxen off that ebay place. http://www.zalman.co.kr/eng/product/view.asp?idx=206&code=021
Now, the only real noise my myth box makes is when a dvd spins up or when it is recording something. Then there is a heart-beat like sound of the hard drive. Well worth it in my opinion - no more whining fans or annoyed girlfriend ....
The only thing lacking is it will remain on once I get the wake up to record to work (time is the only factor here.)
Anyone with a working knowledge of electical stuff know if I can mod this to be powered off my psu? I haven't been able to find much info on the pump, but the manual says: Quote: Intergrated Water Pump : 5 W, Qmax 300 l/h (A type : 230V-50Hz, B type: 120V-60Hz, C type: 220V-60Hz, D type: 110V-60Hz)
I guess I've an A type as I live in the UK and mains is 240V @ 50 Hz.
Regards
Chris

The pump is 240V, so your PSU can't power it, but it can switch it with a relay.
I'm running a watercooled system as my main desktop, with a 240v pump and I've been meaning to do this for ages.
Having a quick look around, I can't find anywhere that sells the PC kits, but you you could build it from parts from Maplin, are you any good with a soldering iron?

Hi Mephi,
I posted this question on another board elsewhere, the suggestion cam back for one of the beauties: OneClick 6-Way Intelligent Mains Panel (it's the last one on the page http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/UPS.html#aup_2d000_2don.
The important feature is this: Quote: To use the OneClick 6-way Intelligent Mains Panel, plug your PC into its black socket, and up to five other items into the remaining outlets. When you switch your PC on, the device will detect the change in power being drawn by the PC and automatically switch on all the other items within three seconds. And when you turn your PC off, it turns all the other items off too!
The link to that thread is here: http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?p=7899255#post7899255
According to the information there it looks just the ticket. I'm ordering mine tonight. Should be here by Wed at the latest.
I am astounded by what a fantastic idea it is

Yeah, they're quite funky looking devices. I have been tempted by those actually, at the moment I just switch the whole thing off at the wall once the PC is shut down...

My only slight reservation is it says that it will turn on any other connected items within three seconds. I doubt 3 seconds of boot up will fry the system...
By the way, I am useless with a soldering iron. Last time I tried I ended up with far to much solder and the end of the components I was soldering looked like that scene in Terminator 2 where ths liquid terminator is blown apart and twisted. Sorta...

Finally bought one of these oneclick babies.... They are cool.
On www.overclockers.co.uk they are listed as £20. I got a new one off ebay for 99p (£5.99 inc postage) - brilliant!!!!
I plugged it all together, and when I pressed the power button, my water cooler started as did my TV. - Excellent Smithers.
I shall investigate how well this works with wake-up-to-record (hopefully) by this weekend.
