Hi all
Firstly thanks to the people whos hard work has gone into this, has got me further than my own attempts with FC1
I'm installing on the system specified in the sig below. Having got to the initial 'input root password' configuration prompt i'm a little unsure of how to best proceed. I've read through several threads but am confused over country specifics - as some of what i've seen is specific to sites that need a US zip code and to what order i should do things in
things i know / think i need to do? (please correct if wrong)
1. Edit etc/X11/XF86Config-4 to add TV refresh rate lines / anything pal specific here??
yes pal uses 50hz vert refresh if memory serves me, but I would look it up if I were you. google could help with this, or maybe some of our European friends can help out here.

2. Load proper drivers for the pundit SIS chip to enable TV out? (is this still necessary or is it now part of install?) does it need to be done first to get correct lines into X-config?
no this is not part of the install last I heard. You should make the refresh rate changes before you install the drivers, actually it doesn't matter, however until you make the refresh changes X probably won't display, at least it doesn't on ntsc us tv's. not sure how lenient pal tv's are. The sis drivers are linked in a thread about the pundit, and the page liked to has a line you can put in the /etc/apt/sources.list file and then you can get the drivers with apt-get.[/quote]

3. Modify a file (ivtv?) to add the correct tuner type for pal country / card
yes you will probably have to edit /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv and change the tuner line. that should be covered somewhere in the forums.

I'm most concerned / confused about
4. Getting tv listings \ tuning the PVR card in to UK channels
I'm presuming that 4. is dependent on getting the proper tuner type setup ?
it would be dependant on getting the proper tuner setting, well not really, but it wouldn't display until the tuner setting is right anyways, so more or less yes it's dependant. As for how to get everything, I can't help you never even seen a pal tv.

another thread that has a link to the sis binary driver site where the line for sources.list is.

I tried following the pundit specific one, but after installing mozilla etc got a kernel panic on bootup when knoppix tried to bring up the Ethernet interface - had to reload off the CD so am kind of wanting to wait till someone can give me an order these things should be done in / anything else UK specific / i need to do.
Once i'm all set i'll tidy up the information from this thread into a little guide for UK users - apologies if something like that already exisits out there and i haven't come accross it, i clearly haven't been googling hard enough
