Hello,
I am not able to install on my ide pci megaraid i4 controller. I get the typical error token is "/ 10000000" when doing the auto-installation. I know this is related to my raid setup not showing up as /dev/hda. However, I can't find any way to set this card as being the primary drive in my bios. It is an older PIII AOpen motherboard. I really don't want to put another ide drive attached to primary master in my server because I would have to buy another case and power supply. Also, the installation wouldn't be protected.
I hope this has not been discussed 5 million times. If anyone could point me in the right direction, I would GREATLY appreciate it.

Even if this isn't possible, I would love to know. I am willing to put this on another drive if that is what it will take. Any help is appreciated.

Can you install KM on a standard IDE drive (as hda), then mount your /myth directory onto your RAID config? That would be fairly simple to do, so long as there are Linux drivers for your RAID card...

The installation worked great. I put it on an ide drive separate from the raid controller. Thanks for the suggestion. I am still not able to see the raid setup, though, on hdb (cfdisk /dev/hdb). It looks as if the drivers are getting loaded.
Code: 0000:00:0c.0 RAID bus controller: American Megatrends Inc. MegaRAID (rev 02) Subsystem: American Megatrends Inc. MegaRAID 511 i4 IDE RAID Controller Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 11 Memory at ed100000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=64K] Expansion ROM at 20100000 [disabled] [size=32K] Capabilities: <available only to root>
I have been struggling with mythtv for quite some time on Fedora Core 5 (ivtv drivers, nvidia, dvd playback, etc. etc. etc.) I am not sure who to thank, but whomever it applies to, thanks for such a great product. The mythtv installation was a breeze compared to what I was doing in the past. I just wish I would have went this route a LONG time ago!

The RAID device would not (usually) be visible as a standard /dev/hdX device. In the past they were usually something like /dev/rdX, Offhand I don't know what notation is now currently being used for the 2.6 kernels.

I REALLY appreciate all the replies. I ended up going with Ubuntu for the backend server because the RAID controller was recognized automatically. I'm not a Linux guru, so I decided to save myself some frustration with all of this.
slowtolearn...I did try /dev/sda with no luck. The phsyical drives weren't showing up either (hde, sde, etc.) I also tried installing the drivers from LSI's site with no luck. I may have given up too early, but I have spent way too much time on this project already
However, I am still running Knoppmyth on my frontend with great results.
