I've searched all over and can't find anyone else with this issue.

When I play an mpeg4cd or listen to music (only things I've tried) and probably anything else that uses mplayer I get a lot of clipping and distortion when the levels in the audio get high. Low levels seem fine.

The only way I have found to get rid of it is to lower the PCM level in alsamixer to 39, which seems very low.

Is there something else I can look at in the mplayer config to adjust audio levels so that I can have the PCM volume at a reasonable level?

If it helps, I'm using a clean install of R5D1.

P3 866
384MB RAM
Onboard sound from Intel Chipset
PVR-150
