I'm trying to add a HAUPPAUGE Nova-T DVB-T card in my existing box.

The box consists of a P4 2.8 on a QDI P4I865GMA-6AL + 512MB. I've been using this setup with a PVR-350 and an Nvidia GF4-MX440 for three years now and overall it has been working fine.
About a month ago I bought a Sharp Aquos 42" FullHD LCD. Really nice, I'm very happy with it. To be able to feed it with DVI-HDMI I added a ASUS N6200/TD with 256MB. That worked amazingly fine and I'm now running at 1920x1080 60Hz.
I also added a Hauppauge Nova-T DVB-T card. The problem is that this prevents X from starting, all I get is a blank (black) screen. Replacing the N6200 with the MX440 gives me my picture back via VGA. I've tried both R5E50 and R5D with the same results. I have also searched the forum and have found people with similar problems but no resolution. I've also tried removing my PVR-350 and moving Nova-T to another slot, without success. With my R5E50 installation I have upgraded the Nvidia drivers according to this post. http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=13443

Reading the following lines from my R5D installation makes me feel that I got som sort of hardware conflict. (/var/log/XFree86.0.log)

Is your graphics card one with "turbocache"? if so, that means it takes 256mb of your system memory to use as graphics memory. It could be that this causes problems with the nova-t for some reason. You could try adding more memory, or a non-turbocache card (geforce 6600 or something?)

Thanks for the reply. I'm quite sure that it isn't a "TurboCache" card, I will have to check that to make sure.
I could also add another 512MB, it won't hurt even if it doesn't solve the problem.
I feel, as you're indicating, that this is a hardware related problem. I had the Nova-T working in another machine with R5E50, I can't remember if I tried with the N6200 combination in that machine. I have to try that as well.

This is what the log looks like without the Nova-T. Notice the "VideoRAM: 262144 kBytes".

It's suprising to see that X claims that the card starts in 1280x1024 when my TV says that it's running in 1920x1080.

I have now done some extensive trial-and-error troubleshooting on my problem. It's quite easy to reproduce the error.

I added another 512MB RAM - no success. I was not hoping too much on that one but it was worth a try.

I also moved all my cards to another P4 machine and installed R5D on a spare disk.
The cards are
    ASUS N6200/TD GEFORCE 6200 256MB (AGP)
    Hauppauge PVR-350
    Hauppauge Nova-T
    M-Audio Revolution 5.1
It all worked on that machine so it must be the combination between the Nvidia card, the Nova-T and the QDI motherboard in the HTPC. I really don't know what to do, I could try to replace any of these components but that feels like an expensive way to troubleshoot, without any guarantees. I would really like to have digital TV in my Mythbox. The ultimate goal would be to have a DVB-C card (or two) with a CAM module and HDTV, but I felt that it would probably be too complicated to get that working so I decided that the Nova-T would be the easiest start!

Since the motherboard seems to be causing the problem, you could try updating the bios?
