Newegg has em now for the same price, no rebate
-originally posted (wrong link) don't get this card for Myth
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6815100135
-reposted (correct link)
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6815116633

And Directron has em even cheaper
http://www.directron.com/150mce274.html

The Directron one I have and it is not working yet. But it is probably user error.
(correction) I got it working now thanks to help from tjc. See this thread if you are having trouble.

Neither of the cards you linked to are the same as the one bigbro mentions.

The first one is not even a Hauppauge card, but rather an Avermedia card which doesn't work with the ivtv drivers at all.

The second one is a Hauppauge PVR-150MCE model 274 which has always been cheaper (~$60). The model 1045 bigbro pointed to is the nonMCE version with a remote control and IR blaster.

Sorry,

I posted the wrong newegg link originally, now it's changed. I tried the Avermedia card when they were first suggested on the Myth mailing list and you're right, they suck to deal with. But I thought at least one person said they got the M179 model working somehow. Now my brother has it to play with on Windows.

Since the model number wasn't in the title, and I had never seen the price of any other of the PVR Hauppauge cards so low, I figured it was this model. We all know how assumptions work. Is there a reason Andy didn't post a link? Is it against forum rules or gauche to post commercial links?

Links like this are fine. You'll see lots of them under KnoppMyth Hardware, the Hardware Recommendation Tiers 1 through 3 and here under Off Topic.

The M179 is the only supported card from Avermedia. Please see the IVTV wiki for a list of compatible and incompatible cards. http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Supported_hardware

BTW - The Subject/Title of bigbro's original post does indeed list the model number...
