will knoppmyth be able to run on a 64-bit platform
i have:
AMD athlon 64 fx-53
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
BFG NVIDIA GEFORCE 6200 AGP
Hauppauge PVR-500
180 GB EIDE HDD
the resaon why im asking is when i try to boot this system w/ the cd it locks up at probing SCSI...zic7xxx_old.ko

Knoppmyth runs fine on 64 bit processors. Please note that Knoppmyth is presently 32-bit as there are some issues with running MythTV in true 64 bit but any 64 bit processor will have no problem running 32 bit code.

so what should i do about the machine locking up, is the something that i change in the bios or does the processor do it automaticlly and which version did u install from maybe i could install that version too.

I'm thinking your SCSI drive needs to be configured like a SATA drive. I just seem to recall reading this somewhere, I don't know for sure since I used the PATA drives right now.


You might check the KnoppMyth wiki, there may be something there, or search the forums, I'm sure the issue has come up before.

You should be able to hit like F2 or F3 (can't remember which one) at the boot prompt and it will give you a bunch of options you can pass to the kernel before it loads. I think one of them is something like "no-scsi". You can try out some of the different options and see if that gets you anywhere. If you have a SATA disk though you might have issues if you disable SCSI as I think SATA used some of the generic SCSI modules.

thanks martian i got it to boot up and install im just having some minor problems now look at my other post to see whats wrong
